Info Quest, the first national computer competition would be held during term 3, 2004.
The main objectives of Info quest are:
Information Technology: Highway to the Future
The quiz will be recorded in the SBC studio at Hermitage. The preliminary rounds will be recorded first. The semi finals and finals will be held in NIE auditorium. The date will be finalised during third term.
Rules:
The quiz will be run in three rounds
Round 1: Individual round. There will be 8 individual questions per team. 2 per individual.
Round 2: Team round. There will be 8 team questions in this round. 4 questions per team. Students will be allowed to consult each other before giving answer.
Round 3: Buzzer round. There will be 16 questions in this round. The questions will be offered to anyone, and will be offered to the first participant to press the buzzer.
To break a tie, a minimum of two and maximum of three extra questions will be asked. The first team to answer two questions correctly will be declared as the winner.
Contestants will be given 10 seconds to answer a question, and 5 seconds if the questions had already be offered.
Category:
The quiz is opened to all students in public schools in Seychelles. There will be only one category consisting of students in S2 and S3. Each school is to enter one team of 4 students (i.e., two students from S2 and two students from S3)
Questions:The questions will include structured, multiple choice and visuals and will be on operating system, hardware, software, word processing, spreadsheet, internet application and history.
Points allocation:
For each correct answer, the contestant will be awarded 2 points. If a question has already been offered, the contestant will be awarded only 1 point for a correct answer.
Certificates and Prizes:
Each contestant will receive a certificate of participation. Prizes will be given to finalists only (i.e., overall winner and runner-up). There will be individual prizes and group prizes which will go towards the School. There will also be a prize for the best scorer.(Only points scored during individual and buzzer rounds will be considered when deciding best scorer). A floating shield will also be given to the overall winner.
